Our wonderful Founder and Consulting Director, Sam Gaskell, has been shortlisted for a prestigious SheCanCode Power Up Award, an accolade highly sought after by females working in technology professions.
Recognised in the category of ‘Senior Women in Tech’, Sam is one of 10 women to make the shortlist and was selected from hundreds of applicants.
The awards are now over to a public vote, which is open until Monday 12th August, with an esteemed panel of judges then set to make the final decision before the winner is announced on Monday 19th August.
Commenting on the shortlist Kayleigh Bateman, Content Director at SheCanCode said: “Sam’s career success to date is very impressive but what stood out the most was her contribution to various diversity-focussed groups and initiatives. She’s incredibly active in supporting women into tech careers in any way she can and we’re delighted to be able to recognise her incredible efforts with this shortlist announcement. We wish Sam lots of luck for the final round of judging!”
In the last 12 months alone, Sam has; joined social enterprise Next Tech Girls as a role model, appeared on a panel at University of Winchester’s #EmpowerHER event and Women in Technology Hampshire’s ‘Attracting & retaining talent and the importance of male allies’ event, and acted as mentor for three young women navigating careers in data and tech, whom she sees on a monthly basis.
Sam said: “It would be a dream come true to win ‘Senior Women in Tech’ but the shortlist recognition alone only encourages me more to double down on my efforts to inspire, guide and showcase what’s possible to women considering and already in data and tech careers - making the top table an achievable and attainable place for everyone!”
Eeeeeeeeek - we’ve got everything crossed! Cast your vote for Sam - before Monday 12th August - here: https://shecancode.io/blog/sam-gaskell-datafit/
